Does Stratton Wealth have a minimum account size requirement?
No, we do not. We believe in helping everyone, regardless of the amount of money you have available to invest. As long as you’re able to contribute at least monthly towards building future wealth, we would love to be your partner.
How much does it cost? What’s your fee?
We do not charge any upfront commissions when you invest with us. Instead, we have a fee structure that ensures our interests are aligned with yours. We charge a 1.00% fee on the amount of assets under management, up to $1 million, then it decreases slightly after that. With this structure, it’s mutually beneficial to build wealth together.
Where can we meet? Do I have to come downtown?
No! We do house calls so we can come right to you, or we can meet somewhere public like a coffee shop. You’re also always welcome at one of our offices in either Winnipeg or Steinbach.
I work during the day—can you meet with me after regular work hours?
Absolutely. We can arrange for a meeting in the evening or on the weekend, there are no days that we’re “closed”. We understand that your finances are a priority, so we make it a priority to meet with you as soon as we can on your schedule.
I don’t live in Manitoba — can I still be a client?
Of course! We have licenses that allow us to advise you across all of the Western Provinces, and Ontario as well. We have clients all across Canada, so location is not a limiting factor.
What happens if my advisor is on vacation?
At Stratton Wealth, we have a team of 3 advisors who are all able and willing to help out with all of Stratton’s clients. If your advisor is on vacation, is sick, or unavailable for something urgent, one of us will always be available to help you and meet with you.
What are the advantages of having an advisor?
Think of your financial advisor as a “financial coach”— someone who’s there to guide you through impactful financial decisions, such as a purchasing a home, investing, choosing insurance, preparing a budget, tax planning, corporate structuring, estate planning, or leasing a vehicle. These are examples of some of the financial decisions people struggle with, and we’re here to help guide you through them.
Even if you don’t believe your financial life to be complicated, there can be value added to having a financial advisor there to help you through some of these decisions.
I’ve seen the ads on TV about “retiring richer” by not paying advisory fees and doing self-management. Thoughts?
These commercials may make it seem like this is a no-brainer, but there’s key information missing. They focus on the fees, but fail to take into consideration the better returns that may (and often do) result from receiving professional advice and guidance. According to a study by DALBAR, the average investor’s annualized return in equities was only 5.2% from 1996 until 2015, when the S&P500 equity index returned 9.8% in that same timeframe. How could this be? This significant gap is due to the emotional and behavioural tendencies of uncoached investors, who panic when the market sells off, or try timing the market by buying and selling only to miss on returns that follow.
