Our Story
The story of Stratton Wealth began in 2001 with current Partner, Eddy Goertzen, while with another firm. At that time, the Financial Advisory industry was dominated by large upfront commissions on investments (also known as deferred sales charge fee structure, which is no longer allowed to be sold), and transaction-oriented sales practices. This practice didn’t sit right with their firm’s belief that financial advice should be what’s best for the client, not the advisor.
They saw this as an opportunity to be different than the rest of the industry, and decided to build a financial advice culture around building relationships, trust, transparency, and wanting what’s best for our clients’ financial future. We are extremely proud to say that Stratton Wealth was one of the first financial planning firms in Manitoba to eliminate commission-based investment products from its offerings in the early 2000’s.
Jump to 2007, Franz Rempel, an elementary school friend of Eddy’s from Stratton, Ontario, joined the firm as a Partner with a shared vision of helping individuals and families achieve their financial goals in a realtionship-focused and transparent matter. The firm already had a large presence in Steinbach, Manitoba and surrounding municipalities, and expanded its operations to Winnipeg, Manitoba as well.
In 2017, the business officially incorporated itself as Stratton Wealth. It’s a little funny… Unless you know someone who invests with us already, there’s a fairly high chance that you’ve never heard of Stratton Wealth before—that’s because we don’t do marketing—rather, the firm’s been able to grow through word of mouth amongst families, and friends of friends (and friends). This is an outcome that we love, as it creates a sense of community amongst our clients, and is a testament to the culture of trust that we bring to our clients.
In 2024, Stratton Wealth welcomed its newest Partner, Jackson Gustafson-Fish. He, too, shares the same vision as both Eddy and Franz, and is excited to help the firm’s clients achieve financial peace of mind and to grow with them over the course of their financial journies.
Today, we are a dedicated team of three financial advisors. With more than 20 years of advisory experience and trusted by over 350 families, we sincerely hope that we can meet you to earn your trust and that you, too, may experience what it’s like to be a partner with Stratton Wealth.

Core Values
-
When it comes to financial advice, transparency and honesty are the roots of a trusting relationship with your advisor.
We make it a priority to set realistic expectations and ensure that you have a full understanding of our plan for you, so you don’t leave a meeting with any questions.
We don’t believe in dumb questions, let’s lay it all out there.
-
At Stratton Wealth, we understand that your finances are important and that you’re entrusting us with your life savings. We will always act in your best interest, and will ensure that your priorities are what’s driving our strategy for you.
We invest your money with the same care as we would our own, and this ensures that our interests are fully aligned.
-
Personal relationships have been the driving key to Stratton Wealth’s success. We are true believers that the better we understand our clients, the better the results will be.
When we’re able to have a personal relationship with our clients, it allows us to understand their priorities through a more thorough and personal lens, enabling the best advice, and therefore result, possible.
-
We personally prioritize charitable giving, and encourage our clients who are fortunate enough to build lasting wealth, to give back to the community and to those in need as well.
We use Abundance Canada to facilitate the donation of investments rather than cash due to the fantastic tax efficiencies.
-
Advisor succession planning is a critical component of a financial advisory firm that’s often overlooked — at Stratton Wealth, we have implemented a generational pass-down plan to ensure that when your advisor retires, or if something were to happen to your advisor, we have a plan to stay committed to you.
Jackson is the newest partner of Stratton Wealth, and being part of the generation after Eddy and Franz, he is ready to ride life’s financial rollercoaster with clients to ensure that Stratton Wealth can see your entire journey through from beginning to end.
“More than financial advice—a trusted partnership for lifelong, generational growth.”
How We’re Different
We attract our clients by being different from what most would expect from their Financial Advisors.
Independence
At Stratton Wealth, we believe in a personal, transparent approach to wealth management and financial planning. Being an independent business allows us to provide tailored advice for your specific financial situation, while ensuring the approach suits all of your needs. Each individual or family has unique priorities and is at different stages in life, which is why flexibility and adaptability are essential in creating the most effective financial plan for you.
Compensation
We are not paid nor incentivized to invest your money in a specific product or to provide a certain type of service—instead, we’re compensated based on the amount of money entrusted with us, so we do better when you do better. This compensation structure ensures that our goals are aligned and that it’s in our best interest for you to succeed. We receive no fees or commissions for buying and selling investments, we simply invest your money the same way we would invest our own, and strive to help you achieve your financial goals.
Meeting With You
This is perhaps what makes us the most unique. Unlike most financial advisory firms with big head offices where they meet with clients, we prefer to meet in the most convenient way possible for you. This means we can arrange to come to your home after work hours, or we can meet at a coffee shop down the street, or we can meet on the weekend at a location of your choice because that’s the only time of the week you’re available—we understand! We know that life is busy and can become chaotic, but your finances should never have to wait, and this is why we come to you. For those who prefer to come to us, we have offices in both Winnipeg and Steinbach where we’d love to meet with you as well.
Relationships
Over the course of more than 20 years in the financial advisory industry, we have discovered that having transparent, trusting, and honest personal relationships with our clients is the best way to achieve their goals. Having a true personal relationship with our clients allows us to better understand their financial priorities, and in turn, better serve them when it comes to retirement and estate planning, charitable giving, and leaving generational wealth to their families.
